I finally caved and got a swift from
Jo-Ann's using their 50% off coupon online. No way I am going to spend 5 hours trying to wind the Alpaca Clouds again ... and now I don't have to. I was not too excited about gettting this new toy because it takes up space in my humble apartment. I mean not excited ... until this:

2 skeins of Alpaca Clouds, 1 4-oz sock yarn from
Inspirations Yarn and 5 skeins of Cash Iroha ... all done within half an hour! Sweet! I feel I break even already.

Pretty addictive isn't it?
My swift, winder, and blocking board--three things I can't believe I lived without. Congrats on the new toy!
Aren't swifts awesome? =)
I'm wondering if JoAnn's sells any of these at full price. I also used the 50% coupon and purchased a swift. Love it!
Marjorie lugged one back the last time she went to the states and she's become our herione. So. much. faster.
Your new toy looks great! It just reminded me that I have to wind some yarns and without a swift! How many hours for this task ? Did you say 5h !!! :(
Oh that's nice! Congratulations! Now that I'm knitting for ME ME ME and only ME ME ME I should buy some yarn in hanks to give my swift (not nearly as nice as yours -- mine is homemade) some use.
I was the same ! I did 3 skeins of Rowan 4 ply and 2 *50yd skeins of Handpainted yarn laceweight in about 20 minutes. I had to stop myself from winding things just for the sake of it. You can only knit so many things at once :-)
Oh I couldn't live without my swift, it was by far the best knitting investment I made.
All that in half an hour? That's amazing! I may need to re-think my 3 hour hank-around-the-chair and carpal-tunnel-inducing ball winding-action. :-) That's so awesome for you!
Once you go swift, you never can go back!
Congrats on the swift. I couldn't live without mine!
my my, so many things happening at ur end! :)
